Paul Weller To Headline Jersey Live Festival!

Jersey Live festival organisers have announced the first two headliners for the 2010 event in September.

Mod-rock legend and NME named ‘Godlike genius’ Paul Weller has been confirmed as the headline act for the main stage on Sunday night. And Scottish singer-songwriter, producer and DJ Calvin Harris will headline the Dance Arena on Saturday.

Other main stage acts include: Chase & Status, Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Darwin Deez, We Have Band and Peggy Sue. In the dance arena festival goers will get to see Sub Focus, Jaguar Skills, Drums of Death, Foamo, DJ Rafik and Rico Tubbs with more to be announced.

It’s such a big booking for us and we think this is going to hit a really broad age spectrum now, it’s a real festival kind of act. Warren Holt Festival organiser, Warren Holt said that this years Jersey Live with Jersey Telecom festival line-up could easily go up against any other 30, 40 or 50 thousand person festival.
“We feel we’ve got the best line-up we’ve ever come up with, we’ve got a few more really big acts to confirm but they are 99% there.

“We would put ourselves against any festival, like 30, 40 or 50 thousand people festivals and our line-up is right up there now, it’s really powerful,” said Warren Holt. He went on to say hat their goal was to create a line-up that reflected current musical trends. “We’re so varied and really branching out now into many other areas of electronic, folk, dance, drum and bass, dubstep, the list goes on.

“There will always be rock musicians there, it’s just whatever way the music trends go we want to be up front and cutting edge,” said Warren Holt. With a headliner like Paul Weller, who is about to perform six shows at the Royal Albert Hall and is seen as a musical icon by all age groups, organisers hope the festival will attract a wide age group. “It’s such a big booking for us and we think this is going to hit a really broad age spectrum now, it’s a real festival kind of act,” said Warren Holt.

For Warren Le Sueur it’s Paul Weller’s back catalogue as well as his current music, including his upcoming new album that will allow the festival to pull in both older audiences and the ‘indie kids’. “It’s going to reach people who have been into the Jam, so there will be an older audience interested in coming to Jersey Live as well as the indie kids,” said Warren Le Sueur.

Organisers have said this is their best line-up yet. But it isn’t just the Paul Weller show, organisers have announced about 30% of the line-up so far and one of the acts booked is Chase and Status who will be doing a live set on the main stage. They have had three number ones in the UK Dance Chart and their debut album went to number two in the dance album charts. Chase and Status entered the UK Top 40 at number nine in November 2009 with ‘End Credits’ featuring another Jersey Live act, Plan B.

Warren Le Sueur said he thought Chase and Status was a strong booking for the festival.
“They are following in the footsteps of the Pendulum powerhouse sound, we are really excited about that, it is massively relevant for ht kids in Jersey. “It is one of the acts who are constantly requested, we’ve managed to pull it out of the bag so we’re more than happy with that,” said Warren Le Sueur. And Plan B is another one to watch out for at the festival, receiving national radio play, has performed on the Jonathan Ross show and did a cover of Tinie Tempah’s Pass Out for the Radio 1 Live Lounge. For Warren Holt the big summery festival act will be Darwin Deez who is about to break through. “Darwin Deez is a fantastic booking for us, he is about to hit the headlines at the moment and we’ve got him just as he is about to break through.

Chase and Status will play the main stage “Really good happy summer festival kind of vibe, he is really quirky, he is a really interesting act,” said Warren Holt. There will be five stages at the festival in 2010 including the main stage, dance arena, VIP stage, local stage and a second stage. “We are looking into a couple of new areas this year, maybe a new stage for the Les InRocks stage which was catering for all the new artists last year.

“We’re going to push that a little bit harder this year, maybe a new stage but if not a very similar stage. Our interest is there and we want to really pick up these other areas now,” said Warren Holt. Tickets will go on sale at midday on 1 May 2010 and Warren Le Sueur has urged people to book early. “We would urge anyone excited by the line-up to get straight on the website and get their tickets before anyone else,” said Warren Le Sueur.

Tickets for Jersey Live 2010 will be available from 1 May and will cost £175 for weekend VIP passes, £84 for a weekend ticket and £54 for a single day ticket.
